Laramie County Crime Clips (2/3/25–2/4/25)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

Operating a CMV without a CDL, Interstate 25, Feb. 3, WHP

The Wyoming Highway Patrol arrested a 37-year-old Oregon man for operating a commercial motor vehicle without a commercial driver’s license and bypassing a port of entry near mile marker 6 on Interstate 25.

At 7:03 p.m., Trooper Kittelson stopped a dually pickup with a loaded flatbed trailer that had bypassed the Interstate 25 port of entry. The driver admitted to not holding the required CDL and was found to have a history of similar violations, including five infractions for driving without a commercial license in the previous year. The man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on charges of operating a CMV without a CDL and failing to stop at a port of entry.


DUI and possession of a controlled substance, near East 12th Street, Feb. 3, WHP

The Wyoming Highway Patrol arrested an 18-year-old Cheyenne man for DUI while under 21, possession of a controlled substance and traffic violations following a high-speed incident near East 12th Street.

At 12:22 a.m., Trooper Kittelson observed a gray sedan speeding and failing to signal turns. The driver appeared to be attempting to evade law enforcement by quickly turning and parking. The suspect admitted to trying to avoid detection. During the stop, officers noted bloodshot eyes, poor balance and a strong odor of alcohol. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag of suspected marijuana in the center console. A breath test showed a BAC of 0.14%.

The man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on multiple charges, including DUI, possession of marijuana and failure to signal.
