CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.
Underage DUI, Pershing Boulevard, March 9, LCSO
An 18-year-old Cheyenne woman was arrested for driving under the influence after she hit a group of mailboxes with her truck March 9.
According to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, a sergeant was patrolling on Pershing Boulevard when he saw a large Dodge truck driving in the designated turn lane. The truck then drifted across the westbound lane and into the shoulder. The sergeant initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Taft Avenue and Pershing Boulevard. The truck collided with a group of mailboxes before coming to a stop, a booking sheet states.
The sergeant made contact with the driver, who had a blank stare; bloodshot, watery eyes; and slow, slurred speech. She was also unstable and had to be guided to the patrol vehicle. The woman told the sergeant she left her house to pick up her friend. She was convinced she had already picked up her friend and her friend was inside the truck. The sergeant checked the truck, but no one was inside. The woman said her friend must have jumped out of the truck and left.
She submitted to standardized field sobriety tests. The deputy determined the woman was intoxicated. She was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.
While at LCDC, she provided a chemical sample of her breath that showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.24%, the document states.
Shoplifting, South Greeley Highway, March 8, LCSO
A 39-year-old transient Cheyenne man was arrested for shoplifting at the Safeway on South Greeley Highway on March 8.
According to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched to the Safeway for a report of a shoplifter. The suspect was seen heading north toward Town and Country Liquors. The suspect was described as a male in his 40s wearing a red backpack.
The deputy found a man matching the description in the McDonald’s parking lot. The deputy placed him in investigative detention and took him back to Safeway.
The deputy watched the security footage of the incident and believed the suspect was the shoplifter. The suspect was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
Public Intoxication, Dell Range Boulevard, March 8, CPD
A 46-year-old Cheyenne woman was arrested for public intoxication at the Walmart on Dell Range Boulevard on March 8.
According to the Cheyenne Police Department, officers were dispatched to Walmart for a report of a woman who was intoxicated in the store, stumbling around and knocking things over. Officers contacted the woman in the electronics department. The officers smelled alcohol on her breath and heard her speech was slurred.
The woman became combative as officers attempted to escort her to the front of the store, a booking sheet states. She was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
