One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash near Cheyenne on Tuesday.

The crash happened around 1:36 a.m., near milepost 361 on Interstate 80 near Cheyenne, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol release.

According to the report, a 2019 Volvo commercial truck was westbound on I-80 when the vehicle drifted to the left side of the roadway, colliding with a concrete bridge support in the median.

The driver is identified as Christopher L. Martinez, 30 from Elk Grove, California. It is unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt, according to the release. He died at the scene from injuries.

The WHP says driver fatigue is being investigated as a possible factor.

This is the 13th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020 compared to 31 in 2019, 15 in 2018, and 19 in 2017 to date, according to the WHP.
