CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A 45-year-old Missouri man lost his life in a Saturday, July 9, crash on Highway 191 near Pinedale in Sublette County, the Wyoming Highway Patrol reported Sunday.
Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicated the man’s Dodge Challenger slowly crossed the center line at milepost 66.9, entered the northbound lane and went off the road to the left, according to the highway patrol. The Dodge ran over a delineator post, then entered a ditch. It continued to travel until it hit and vaulted over a culvert end. The Dodge rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels, according to the report.
The driver remained buckled in the driver’s seat until he was removed by drivers who stopped to help, the highway patrol said.
The crash happened at 8:05 p.m., and conditions were clear and dry, the report states.
The highway patrol believes driver fatigue or falling asleep at the wheel were contributing factors.
