CASPER, Wyo. — A Wyoming Highway Patrol officer was injured Friday evening along WYO 59 when he was struck by a truck while sitting in his patrol vehicle.
At roughly 6:40 p.m., the Douglas trooper was parked near milepost 46.5, aiding multiple motorists who had exited the roadway due to hazardous weather and road conditions.
At that point, a 53-foot box trailer semi-truck, which was traveling northbound, lost control and collided with the back of the patrol car.
The commercial truck driver did not report any injuries at the time of the crash, while the trooper was transported to Memorial Hospital of Converse County for non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was issued a citation for driving too fast for the road conditions.
