1 dead, 6 injured after head-on crash near Alpine

CASPER, Wyo. — One Wyoming resident has died and six others are injured after a head-on crash near Alpine on Saturday night.

According to a preliminary report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a Ford Expedition was heading northbound on Highway 89 when it came upon a Chevrolet 1500 traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.

The Chevrolet driver steered right to avoid impact but was unable to avoid hitting the Ford head-on, the report said, adding that the Chevrolet was “re-directed to the west and came to rest in the southbound lanes.”

The report says Forrest Jensen, 31, died in the crash, and lists no seatbelt in use at the time. There is no information on the six injured. Conditions are listed as dry and clear.
