GILLETTE, Wyo.— A motorcyclist involved in a crash on Warlow Drive on Thursday died at the scene, according to local law enforcement and the Campbell County coroner.

The man was identified by Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem as Edward L. Bruns of Gillette. He was 43 years old. Bruns died of head trauma at the scene of the crash, according to Wallem.

The crash, which blocked traffic for several hours on Thursday, is still under investigation. According to the Gillette Police Department, a 38-year-old woman driving a 2017 Ram ProMaster cargo van was driving eastbound on Warlow Drive and slowed down to make a turn onto Enterprise Avenue when she felt an impact to her vehicle.

Bruns, riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson, had struck the rear end of the Ram and was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:33 a.m. Thursday. The driver of the van was unharmed, but both vehicles sustained over $1,000 worth of damage. Neither the Coroner’s Office or the GPD could confirm whether or not Bruns had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

More information may become available following the conclusion of the investigation. Wallem said the Coroner’s Office would perform a full toxicology report, but would communicate with Bruns’s family and law enforcement to determine if a full autopsy is necessary given the cause of death.
