CASPER, Wyo. — The driver of a semi tractor trailer died after colliding with a parked vehicle between Rawlins and Sinclair on Saturday, Sept. 7.
According to a preliminary report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the Freightliner commercial vehicle was heading east on Interstate 80 near mile marker 223 when it crossed over the fog line and collided with a Volvo commercial trailer that was parked on the side of the roadway.
The Freightliner glanced off the left corner of the trailer and jackknifed before skidding across both eastbound travel lanes and catching fire.
The driver has been identified as Koffi Amekousse, 43, of Georgia. No one else was injured in the crash, and no possible contributing factors were listed. Conditions were dry and clear, the report said.
