GREEN RIVER, Wyo. — A multi-vehicle crash resulted in two fatalities and one injury Wednesday afternoon outside of Green River. According to a release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, this incident occurred a mile south of Interstate 80 and has nothing to do with the Green River tunnel detours put in place following last week’s deadly crash.

The Wednesday incident took place along State Highway 374 when a southbound 2011 Honda Odyssey was preparing to take a left alongside the road’s curve and collided with a westbound 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer combination unit. According to the WHP, the Volvo trailer failed to handle the curve properly and crashed directly into the Honda’s broad side.

Both fatalities and the sole injury were among the Honda’s passengers. The victims were identified as 47-year-old Jeffrey Wilson and 32-year-old Kathrine Franklin, and both were sitting on the car’s left side, with Wilson being the driver. Both Franklin and Wilson are from Green River.

The third vehicle occupant sustained non-fatal injuries and was promptly transported to the nearby Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County by ambulance. According to the WHP, the truck driver was not injured.
