CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Glow sticks, face paint and slime-green dodgeballs pierced through the darkness during the fifth annual Glow in the Dark Dodgeball tournament Saturday afternoon at the Event Center at Archer.
Laramie County Coroner Rebecca Reid and her office ran the sporting event to raise funds for her office’s Grief Support Group and LOSS Team, which provide financial assistance and emotional support to families who have lost a loved one to suicide.
For the first half of the event, the 14 registered teams competed in round-robin pool matches. The players then progressed to the single-match elimination bracket. The following teams made it to the competition’s semifinal and championship games:
First: Pickup Man
Second: #cowboycole
Third: Ball Slingers
Third: Body Shots
Pickup Man and #cowboycole received gift bags and wine for clinching first and second place, respectively. They received other prizes such as restaurant gift cards to Texas Roadhouse and Culver’s, as well as tournament plaques.
The Coroner’s Office gave away more than 70 individual prize packages for the event’s raffle.
