CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Horns blared throughout the parking lot of Frontier Mall on Saturday morning as kids and parents climbed inside construction vehicles for the “Touch a Truck” event.
Construction company Simon hosted the event Saturday, during which families could enjoy activities such as face and rock painting, bounce houses and a dunk tank. Around 13 trucks of varying sizes and utility were featured at the event, such as a skid steer loader, an asphalt roller, a dump truck, a monster truck, a fire engine and excavators. Attendees could climb inside the vehicles to explore their inner compartments and honk horns.
Saturday’s event marked the first “Touch a Truck” event, according to Stephen Cotton, safety manager with Simon and one of the event coordinators. The construction company is aiming to make Touch a Truck a yearly occurrence.
Partners with Simon lent the company their vehicles for the event. The city of Cheyenne also provided one of its fire engines.
