CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Transportation Commission has approved significant funding for several road construction projects in Cheyenne and Laramie County, totaling over $40 million.

These projects are part of a larger statewide initiative that saw the commission award more than $74.8 million in contracts for eight Wyoming Department of Transportation projects in November.

The largest contract awarded locally is a $26.6 million project for bridge replacement and road improvements on a 11.25-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Pine Bluffs. This project, awarded to Cheyenne-based Simon Contractors, will involve concrete and asphalt paving, bridge work and drainage improvements. The project is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2026.

Another major project in Laramie County is a $12.2 million contract awarded to Cheyenne-based JTL Group Inc., doing business as Knife River, for milling, overlay and ADA upgrades on a 2.01-mile section of Highways 287 and 30 in Laramie. This project will include asphalt paving, grading, sidewalk work and improved stormwater drainage. The expected completion date is Oct. 31, 2025.

Cheyenne-based Reiman Corp. was awarded $2 million bid for a bridge rehabilitation project involving structure work, traffic control, asphalt paving, guardrail and erosion control/seeding work at various locations within Sublette County. The contract completion date is Oct. 31, 2025.

Funding for these projects is primarily sourced from federal dollars, and contracts are typically awarded to the lowest bidder.
