CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The City of Cheyenne has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Mayor’s Youth Council for the 2020-21 school year.
The City says that the Mayor’s Youth Council is for community-minded young people who are interested in learning more about civic trusteeship, City Government and community leadership.
According to the announcement, selected youth will have an opportunity to actively participate in a variety of activities and programs that include:
- Teambuilding.
- Meeting one-on-one with the Mayor and other City officials.
- Addressing issues affecting the youth and community.
- Learning about City Departments and how they function.
- Tours of City facilities.
The City says that typically the meetings are held each month and the estimated time commitment is around four to five hours per month.
The announcement goes on to say that applications are due on Friday, March 20th, 2020 and are available online here or can be picked up from social studies teachers and school counselors offices at the public junior and high schools. Applications can also be picked up on the first floor of the Municipal Building, located at 2101 O’Neil Ave, on the public information table.
The City says that the Mayor’s Youth Selection Committee will review the applications and schedule interviews with selected candidates.
They say that successful applicants will be notified in May.
