CHEYENNE – Gov. Mark Gordon showered praise on the state’s first responders, from law enforcement to firefighters and EMTs during his 2020 State of the State address on Monday morning.
But he specifically touted Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper Jaime Wingard, who was nearly killed in October after being struck from behind by a semi-truck. Her patrol vehicle was totalled and her seat was torn loose following the collision.
“Thankfully, she was wearing her seatbelt and was not significantly harmed,” Gordon said.
Wingard was in the audience during the speech, where Gordon asked legislators and guests to think about these people who put their lives on the line every day for their jobs. He thanked Wingard specifically for her service.
“By all means, be careful out there,” he told the audience.
