CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 46-year old man faces a recommended felony Stalking charge, after reportedly violating a previous court order that mandated he stay away from the accuser.
According to court papers, Eddie Springer Jr. made his intitial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on May 11ths to hear the felony count of Stalking – Probation Violation read to him by Judge Denise Nau.
Springer was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of Simple Battery and a misdemeanor count of Attempted Criminal Entry.
Police say that they were contacted by the alleged victim during the early morning hours of May 2nd, 2020, who told them that Springer had just tried to enter their residence, which was in violation of a court order that required him to stay away from the accuser.
The affidavit goes on to say that the accuser reported to authorities that they had been previously been in an intimate relationship with Springer.
According to court documents, Springer was convicted of felonious Stalking involving the same alleged victim in June 2016 where he signed an agreement that demanded that he avoid all contact with the individual.
The accuser told police that when Springer had tried to open their front door on the morning of May 2nd, 2020, another member of the residence chased him away.
Court papers allege that Springer tried to punch and throw a rock at the household member while being pursued.
According to the accuser, this was not the first time that Springer had violated the terms of his probation. They allege that on April 4th, 2020, Springer was seen outside of their residence during the early morning hours.
Law enforcement says that they conducted an interview with a neighbor of the accuser who reported to them that a week earlier they had seen a male, who they presumed to be Springer, outside of the alleged victim’s residence.
Wyoming state statutues say that any individual convicted of felony Stalking – Probation Violation can face a $10,000 fine and/or up to 10 years in prison.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
