CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 34-year old Cheyenne man was arrested and now faces felony charges after being accused of possessing several suspected narcotics while staying in a trailer that he wasn’t his.
Vernon Tennant was arrested by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, May 13th, 2020. During an initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court, Tennant was charged with felony charges of Possession of Heroin and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Tennant was also read misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Entry during his same court appearance.
Deputies with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office say that they were dispatched to the 6100 block of Laramie Street in relation to a report of narcotics being used in a trailer.
According to court papers, deputies spoke to a resident of the trailer park who informed them that nobody should be staying in the trailer where the suspected drug use was taking place.
The affifavit in the case says that when deputies knocked on the door of the trailer they discovered Tennant and two other individuals inside.
Deputies report that upon entering the trailer they located a clear plastic baggie with a “green leafy” substance inside of it. The suspected substance was tested and came back with a presumptive positive for being marijuana. Deputies say that the substance weighed .195 ounces.
Court papers say that Tennant told the deputies that the suspected marijuana was his.
While searching the rest of the trailer deputies say that they also located three syringes that contained a clear liquid in them. Law enforcement went on to say that the combined weight of the syringes was 121 units.
Authorities say that the syringes have been sent to the Wyoming State Crime Lab for testing.
The affidavit says that the deputies then discovered a make-up case that contained clear plastic bags which they describe to have held a hard black color substance.
According to the LCSO, the weight of the substance was 4.7 grams and tested presumptive positive for being heroin.
Court documents allege that authorities located a plastic container in a bedroom that Tennant said he was occupying which contained a white crystal substance in it. It’s reported that the white substance tested presumptive positive for Methamphetamine.
The weight of the suspected meth was 13.6 grams.
During Tennants court appearance he was given a $5000.00 cash bond by Judge Thomas Lee.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
