CHEYENNE. Wyo – According to the Cheyenne Police Department, officers were involved in a pursuit early Thursday morning.

Authorities say that approximately 1:40 a.m., officers attempted to make contact with a suspected intoxicated driver involved in a hit and run crash in the area of 8th Ave. and Central Ave.

“The driver, 19-year-old Dawson Dixon, refused to stop for officers. Spike strips were deployed during the pursuit, deflating one of the vehicle’s tires. Dixon continued his attempt to flee until getting stuck near Union Pacific Railroad tracks south of West Lincolnway between Reed and Snyder Avenues,” the CPD said in a statement released on Facebook.

According to law enforcement, upon his surrender, officers determined the vehicle Dixon was driving had been reported stolen from Colorado.
