CASPER, Wyo. — ABC Television has dropped two short teasers for the new television show Big Sky, based on the work of Wyoming author CJ Box.
In January it was announced that David E. Kelley, one of television’s most successful producers, picked up Box’s book “The Highway” for development. Retitled “Big Sky,” it will air on ABC Television this fall.
During a pre pandemic event in February, Box told Casper’s Oil City News he was immediately impressed with Kelly’s script for the pilot episode.
“It’s fantastic, he’s a great writer,” said Box. “I thought he kept the essence (of the book) and added things that I thought were brilliant and never would’ve thought of.”
Kelley, it was announced, will write multiple episodes and serve as showrunner in its premiere season.
“Private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt join forces with his estranged wife and ex-cop, Jenny Hoyt, to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana,” a synopsis released by ABC Television says. “But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.”
Big Sky is executive produced by Kelley and Box, alongside Ross Fineman, Matthew Gross, and Paul McGuigan. The show is being produced by A+E Studios in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
The series thriller will star Katheryn Winnick as Jenny Hoyt, Kylie Bunbury as Cassie Dewell, Brian Geraghty as Ronald Pergman, Dedee Pfeiffer as Denise Brisbane, Natalie Alyn Lind as Danielle Sullivan, Jesse James Keitel as Jerrie, with John Carroll Lynch as Rick Legarski, and Ryan Phillippe as Cody Hoyt.
Big Sky is currently scheduled for a Tuesday primetime slot this fall.
