Authorities say they made contact with the a member of the residence who told them that Jones had been “banging on their front door” since early in the morning.
The accuser advised law enforcement that they were aquainted with Jones and had reason to believe that the suspect was possibly on narcotics at the time of the incident, according to court papers.
Deputies say that the accuser informed them that Jones had not slept in four days and they believed that he was “beginning to hallucinate.”
At one point Jones placed a sunglasses case between the screen door and the back door of the residence, the accuser advised the LCSO.
Court papers say that later another member of the household retrieved the sunglasses case while wearing rubber gloves and placed it inside of a one gallon Zip-Lock bag,
Deputies report that they brought the case back to the sheriff’s department and booked it into evidence.
“When I opened the sunglasses case I noticed two clear glass pipes with burnt residue inside the bulb areas of the glass pipes,” a deputy reported in the sworn affidavit. “Due to my training and experience, I recognized these pipes to commonly be used to smoke methamphetamine.”
Court papers say that inside of the case was a large crystal rock that later tested presumptive positive for being methamphetamine. Law enforcement reports that the rock weighed 3.1 grams without packaging.
“In addition to the white crystal rock, I found four clear baggies with a white crystal substance in each of the baggies,” the deputy stated,
According to the affidavit, the total weight of the crystal substance was 1.2 grams without packaging.
On October 12th, 2020, the LCSO says that Jones was arrested at the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department without incident. After Jones was read his Miranda warning, authorities say the suspect said the sunglasses case was his and that he was aware of the contents inside of it.
“I advised Mark that the white crystal rock tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine. Mark advised that the contents inside of the sunglasses case were methamphetamine,” the deputy stated in the affidavit.
Jones made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on October 13th, 2020 where he was read the recommended charge of Possession of Methamphetamine.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
