CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Two people are dead and four are injured after three vehicles were involved in a crash near Afton on Friday, Dec. 18.
According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report, a Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Hwy. 89 in dark conditions when it came upon a horse trailer being pulled by a Dodge that was stopped to make a left turn onto a private road. The report says the trailer did not have working tail lamps. Unable to see the trailer in time, the Honda’s driver swerved left to avoid a rear-end collision.
The Honda then struck the left rear corner of the trailer and rotated clockwise, causing it to collide with an oncoming Hyundai Tucson, which hit the driver’s side of the Honda.
Killed in the crash were Wyoming residents Robert King and Joanne King, both 75. The preliminary report does not state which vehicle they were traveling in.
The report does not list the conditions of the four injured victims, but does say that seatbelts were in use.
