CASPER, Wyo. — The “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals” (PETA) are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in a grizzly bear poaching case in Wyoming.
The United States Fish and Wildlife Service is also offering a $2,000 award for information in the case. The rewards are available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the killing of the grizzly.
The grizzly was found on Sept. 9 in the Crow Creek drainage area on the Wind River Reservation. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward in the case because grizzlies are listed as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act.
“This grizzly bear deserved to live out his or her life in the wild expanse but instead died at the hands of a cruel person or persons,” PETA Senior Director Stephanie Bell said in a press release on Monday, Jan. 4. “PETA urges anyone with information to come forward immediately so that whoever committed this terrible crime against a protected wild animal can be held accountable.”
