CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A suspected impaired driver is seriously injured after colliding with a WYDOT work vehicle as crews worked on maintenance on Interstate 80 this week.
According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol release, an older Ford pickup was traveling westbound on I-80 near milepost 95 on Jan. 11, at around 7:22 a.m.
A WHP trooper was attempting to catch the Ford for a traffic stop after noticing it was driving erratically. Before the WHP trooper could catch the Ford, it collided with the rear of the WYDOT vehicle.

Two WYDOT employees who were stopping to clean delineator posts had activated the warning lights on the vehicle when it was hit by the Ford, said the release. The two employees were injured and transported to Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital.
The WHP says the driver is from Green River and is seriously injured, but expected to recover.
I-80 was closed after the crash as crews investigated and cleaned up the area, said the report.
