Closures to light, high-profile vehicles in effect as 70+ mph gusts rock southeast Wyo

I-80 near Foote Creek Sunday 2/7/21 (WYDOT)

CASPER, Wyo —  Interstate 80 is open again Sunday between Laramie and Rawlins except to light, high-profile vehicles. This includes US 30/287 between Laramie and Walcott Junction.

Interstate 25 from the Colorado state line to Cheyenne was added to closure list for wind-prone vehicles shortly before noon Sunday.

High wind advisories issued by the National Weather Service remain in effect for the area until 5:00 pm. The Arlington/Elk Mountain portion of I-80 could see gusts as high as 70 mph.

Additional bands of snow are likely through this evening, NWS said, mainly north of Interstate 80, as an arctic front stalls across the eastern plains.
