Up to 8 inches of snow expected on I-80 in Wyoming; 10 inches possible in the Snowy Range

CASPER, Wyo. — I-80 is expected to see strong winds and snow impact travel Monday and into Tuesday morning.

5-8 inches are expected along I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie until 3 am Tuesday and wind gusts could reach as high as 40 mph and create areas of drifting snow, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

“Travel could be very difficult with snow covered roads,” the NWS in Cheyenne says. “Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening commute along Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie.”

6-10 inches are possible in the Snowy Range with 2-5 inches possible in Cheyenne and Laramie until 11 pm Monday. The norther Laramie Range could see 5-9 inches.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” the NWS in Cheyenne said. “Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening commute.”
