CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A proposal for the open container law downtown to be utilized for the Halloween Pub Crawl was brought forward to City Council last night, Aug. 8.
According to the current Municipal Code, there is an open container law in place from Thursday before Memorial Day to Labor Day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This law allows residents to possess wine and malt beverages in the downtown area during the specified times.
The proposal last night would allow for the law to be in effect on Oct. 29 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. during the Halloween Pub Crawl.
Cited in the resolution are many supporting reasons as to why this would be beneficial, such as increased business for those in the downtown area, which leads to an increased return to the community when people spend money locally.
According to the resolution, the organizers of the event would follow all laws and requirements set out in the resolution if passed.
This was sent to the public works committee during the consent agenda.
The full resolution can be seen below.
