CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A bill that would allocate state funding toward mental health services for K–12 students will be considered during the Wyoming Legislature’s 2023 General Session, which begins on Jan. 10, 2023.
If House Bill 34 passes, the state’s department of education will set aside more than $11 million in grants to support mental health services in public schools.
To access the grants, Wyoming school districts will need to provide a proposal documenting the need for student mental health services, the types of service or programs the school will offer, and a timeline for spending the grant.
Schools can receive up to $120,000 per year from the department.
The bill is being sponsored by the Joint Education Committee, which comprises several outgoing and incoming senators and representatives from the Education Committee.
