(UPDATE) Cheyenne police: Shooter suspect ID’d, now in custody

UPDATE, 8:45 p.m.: Cheyenne police announced at 8:45 p.m. that Cody Nicholson has been taken into custody.

“Officers do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community,” the department said.

UPDATE, 8:33 p.m.: The Cheyenne Police Department has identified an 18-year-old Cheyenne man as a person of interest in a shooting that took place near Frontier Mall on Monday.

Cody Nicholson has been identified as the suspect, and police are asking the public to report information on his whereabouts to 307-637-6525. Nicholson was last seen wearing a gray and black sweatshirt and black pants, police said. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The department’s public information officer, Alex Farkas, confirmed to Cap City News that the shooting did not take place in the mall, but in the general area of the mall at 1400 Dell Range Blvd.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — At 7:51 p.m., the Cheyenne Police Department said it was still searching for a suspected shooter in the area of Frontier Mall.

Police reported at 6:55 p.m. that they were responding to a shooting in the area of the mall at 1400 Dell Range Blvd. They asked the public to avoid the area.
