CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a brief summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne over the weekend, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.
K-9 sniffs out suspected fentanyl, May 19
During a routine traffic stop, a deputy conducted an open-air sniff with their K-9. The K-9 alerted to narcotics in the vehicle. Upon further investigation, the deputy found a “stash can” made out of a makeshift Coke can, which contained 500 suspected fentanyl pills. The suspect was placed under arrest, and police believe he was on his way to conduct a drug deal for the pills.
Man arrested after fight at Smoker Friendly, May 19
Officers were dispatched to the Smoker Friendly at 620 E. Lincolnway for a report of a disturbance. Upon arriving, they found the suspect with blood around his mouth and cuts on his right-hand knuckles. Further investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of a suspected methamphetamine pipe, along with a small plastic bag containing 0.58 grams of suspected methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken to the jail without incident.
Man taken into custody after fighting hospital staff, May 20
Officers were dispatched to a report of a man who was displaying behavioral problems. The officer found the man saying he was extremely paranoid and that he wanted to go to the hospital. He said that he had taken some suspected cocaine he found on the street, and that the drug has caused episodes of paranoia in the past. The suspect said he felt he was being followed and believed that multiple people were watching him. An ambulance was called, and upon arrival the suspect began to hallucinate again and began fighting hospital staff and kicking down doors. It was at this point he was restrained and he was later taken to the jail.
Woman resists arrest after officers find THC vape pen, May 20
An officer was dispatched to a call regarding an intoxicated woman vomiting and refusing to leave a restaurant on Del Range Boulevard. Upon arrival, the officer found the suspect in a booth with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The woman said she was waiting for a ride from an employee of the restaurant, and staff said they wanted her out of the establishment. The officer asked the suspect to stand up so she could pat her down, at which point the suspect pulled out a THC vape pen and kept telling the officer they could not have it. The officer asked her to hand over the vape, but the suspect continued to refuse, try to pull away from the officer and fight them upon her arrest.
Man arrested with suspected methamphetamine, THC; May 21
An officer pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 25 on May 21 for speeding. Upon contacting the suspect, the officer noticed the tip of a vape pen sticking out from under the suspect’s leg. The officer asked the man to get out of his vehicle and join him at the cruiser, at which point the officer saw the full vape pen with a THC label on it. After filling out a ticket for speeding, the officer saw the man moving something around his stomach area, so the officer conducted a search and found a black and white container filled with suspected crystal methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested shortly after.
