GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem has identified the man who died in a crash on Bozeman Way on July 21.
Nicholas W. Fyffe, 54, of Wright, died instantly on the scene from head trauma, Wallem said this morning.
Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny said the man was traveling on Shadow Hill Lane in a Polaris Razor and started losing control of the vehicle during a turn. He attempted to regain control and then continued traveling down the street. He was unable to regain control of the vehicle, and it rolled onto his left side, coming to a stop. He wasn’t wearing a helmet or a seatbelt. He was ejected from the vehicle, which rolled on top of him. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Speed appeared to be the main cause of the crash.
Witnesses reported the crash at 7:49 p.m. July 21, according to the sheriff’s office’s records.
As of 1 p.m. July 24, the Wyoming Highway Patrol hasn’t yet responded to County 17’s request for additional information.
At 3 p.m. July 24, Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Kyle McKay said that since Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is the primary investigating agency for the crash, all questions must be directed to the sheriff’s office.
