GILLETTE, Wyo. — Star Plunge at Hot Springs State Park has reopened, staff said Thursday afternoon.
Roland Luehne of Star Plunge said in a Facebook message at 12:45 p.m. Aug. 17 that the park has reopened and is now open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with regular operations.
Wyoming State Parks Deputy Director Nick Neylon said at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 17 that Star Plunge provided proof that it reinstated its liability insurance, so Wyoming State Parks allowed the park to reopen the morning of Aug. 17.
Wyoming State Parks said in a news release Aug. 15 that Star Plunge at Hot Springs State Park had to be closed temporarily, effective immediately, due to its failure to provide proof of liability insurance in compliance with its Wyoming State Parks contract.
Neylon said in the release that Wyoming State Parks’ top priority is ensuring visitors’ safety and that it would reopen the park as soon as it could.
Star Plunge is located at 115 Big Springs Drive, Thermopolis.
