1 dead following Laramie County traffic collision

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — One person is dead following an Aug. 29 traffic collision in Laramie County.

The incident took place at an uncontrolled intersection of County Road 208 and County Road 146, which is roughly 26 miles east of Cheyenne.

The collision involved a semi-truck and a minivan. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of the minivan driver, according to a Laramie County Sheriff’s Office press release. Despite the immediate efforts of emergency responders, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries in the collision and, after receiving medical attention at the scene, was released to go home.

The absence of traffic control signals or signage played a role in contributing to the incident, the release states.

The LCSO sends its thoughts and condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time, the release states. Notification of the tragic loss has been made to the next of kin. The swift response of emergency personnel ensured that the injuries sustained by the truck driver were not severe, the release states.

Law enforcement is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine the factors that contributed to the event.

In the wake of this incident, authorities wish to emphasize the importance of safe driving practices, especially at uncontrolled intersections. Per the release, all motorists are urged to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits and yield the right-of-way when approaching intersections where traffic signals or stop signs are absent.
