GILLETTE, Wyo. — A 12-year-old boy died late last night, Sept. 11, after reportedly being ejected from a vehicle on Adon Road, Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said Tuesday.
The boy — whose identity has not been made public pending a next-of-kin notification from the Campbell County Coroner’s Office — was a passenger in a 2008 Toyota traveling on Adon Road around 11:11 p.m., Reynolds said Sept. 12.
According to the responding deputy’s report, the vehicle was being operated by a 17-year-old boy who lost control while trying to get a moth out of the vehicle and entered a ditch.
The boy turned the vehicle back onto the roadway, where it rolled twice before coming to rest on its wheels; the 12-year-old boy was ejected from the vehicle and was found unresponsive, Reynolds said.
Emergency personnel transported the 12-year-old boy to Campbell County Health, where he was pronounced deceased, per Reynolds, who said the 17-year-old boy displayed no signs of impairment and did not appear to have any injuries.
