CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne/Laramie County Emergency Management Agency has announced a change in its emergency notification system, as the agency is transitioning from CodeRed to Rave Alert. The CodeRed system will no longer function in Laramie County.
The switch to Rave Alert promises a more integrated experience with the Laramie County Combined Communications Center 911, according to a press release by the agency. This change will streamline the process for citizens to receive emergency notifications. Importantly, it enables the provision of instantaneous information to 911 call takers.
Rave Alert’s integration with the SMART 911 System stands as a key feature of this upgrade. This integration means that Cheyenne’s citizens can provide valuable information directly to 911 operators when calling for emergency services. While participation in this aspect of the system is optional, it offers benefits to first responders and emergency operators.
What Cheyenne Residents Need to Know
For Cheyenne residents, enrolling in the Rave Alert system is straightforward. The registration requires basic information such as a name, phone number, email address and password. The information provided to SMART 911 will only be accessible during a 911 call and used exclusively for emergency assistance.
Residents who previously signed up for CodeRed notifications must re-enroll in the Rave System, as data privacy policies prevent the automatic transfer of information. The Cheyenne/Laramie County Emergency Management Agency emphasizes the importance of this re-enrollment to ensure continued access to critical emergency alerts.
Residents can sign up at the Rave Alert website.
