CASPER, Wyo. — A Cheyenne resident, Brandon McCoy, has pleaded guilty to child sex abuse charges at a change-in plea hearing at Laramie County District Court on Dec. 28, 2023.

McCoy, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse of a minor with intrusion on a victim less than 13 years of age. When entering a factual basis for his pleas, McCoy gave details of the reported abuse that the state found sufficient to accept the plea.

The change in plea comes after McCoy’s bond was revoked for charges of possession of a controlled substance in September.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 50 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. As part of a plea agreement, the state has agreed to dismiss charges of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, incest and possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents.

The Cheyenne Police Department was the investigating agency. Sentencing will take place on March 7.
