GILLETTE, Wyo. — A motorcyclist died early this morning after reportedly crashing into a vehicle on South Butler Spaeth Road, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said Wednesday.

The man — identified on Jan. 31 as 20-year-old Campbell County resident Coyle R. Love, who was astride a 2023 Kawasaki northbound on South Butler Spaeth Road on Jan. 30 — succumbed to his injuries around 5:28 a.m. Jan. 31, Wasson said.

According to Wasson, Love crashed into a Ford passenger vehicle operated by a 19-year-old woman who didn’t see the motorcycle and pulled out in front of it at the intersection of Country Club Road and South Butler Spaeth Road.

The incident report released on Jan. 31 did not include an estimate of the speeds involved in the crash, but both drivers were transported to Campbell County Health for treatment, where Love was later pronounced deceased.

Details of the crash remain unknown as of Jan. 31 as the investigation continues, Wasson said, adding that he was not aware of the 19-year-old woman’s condition.

Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem has listed the official cause of death as blunt force trauma as a result of the crash.

UPDATE, 1/31/24: This story has been updated to reflect the motorcyclist was 20-year-old Campbell County resident Coyle R. Love, per information obtained from the Campbell County Coroner’s Office.
