Head-on collision on US 85 leaves several injured; investigation underway

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A serious two-vehicle crash disrupted traffic and resulted in severe injuries on US 85 near mile marker 19 on Feb. 19.

At around 3:20 p.m. Feb. 19, a northbound Jeep Wrangler, attempting a pass, collided head-on with a southbound Kia SUV.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol’s Crash Team was promptly on site, employing GPS technology to draft a detailed to-scale diagram of the accident scene. With the investigation ongoing, authorities are scrutinizing the Jeep driver’s potential impairment as a factor in the crash, according to a press release by the WHP.

The WHP acknowledged the swift actions of first responders and helpful bystanders at the scene.
