CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

Interfering and Resisting Arrest, West Fox Farm Road, March 29, CPD

A 71-year-old Lynchburg, Virginia, man is charged with three misdemeanor counts, including interfering/obstructing, resisting arrest and disturbing peace and property, after Cheyenne police were called to the 400 block of West Fox Farm Road for a report of a trespasser.

Police said a general manager reported the man would not leave the room when he was supposed to have checked out on March 26. Police knocked on the door, and the man knocked back. When police asked him to open the door to speak with them, he told them to “shove their heads up their asses,” a booking sheet states.

He was asked several times to exit the room, and he refused. When police tried to open the door with the key, the man held the door closed. Officers forced entry into the room, where they eventually placed the man in handcuffs and took him into custody.

He was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

DUI, East 25th Street, March 30, CPD

Police are charging a 45-year-old Cheyenne man with DUI after responding to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Morrie Avenue and East 25th Street at 11:46 a.m. March 30.

Arriving officers saw that a Toyota Prius ran into a cemetery fence. The driver was standing by the vehicle. Police said he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him and he had bloodshot eyes. After completing roadside sobriety tests, police determined he was intoxicated.

The man took a roadside breath test that showed a blood-alcohol content level of 0.305%. He was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for jail clearance, and then taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Assault, Pioneer Avenue, March 28, LCSO

A 36-year-old Cheyenne man is charged with assault via battery after deputies believe he struck an inmate.

A booking sheet states the man was incarcerated in the Laramie County Detention Center when he assaulted another inmate by striking him in the right eye.

Video surveillance shows the man entering the other inmate’s cell, after which he’s seen leaving clenching his hand as if it was sore.

The other inmate was taken to the infirmary due to a swelling eye.

Violation of Temporary Protection Order, Alice Court, March 30, LCSO

Deputies are charging a 24-year-old man with violation of a protection order after responding to a call on East Jefferson.

A woman told deputies her ex sent a message over Venmo saying “say goodbye to the kids for me and also a broken heart emoji.” She told deputies he was living in his car and provided a family address.

Deputies spotted the car and knocked on the door. After speaking with the man, dispatchers confirmed the temporary protection order.

He was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
