CASPER, Wyo. — U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman retained the Republican Party’s endorsement in the primary election Tuesday, defeating challenger Steven R. Helling, according to unofficial results reported by the Secretary of State’s Office.
Hageman will face Democrat Kyle G. Cameron, who ran unopposed in the party, in the Nov. 5 general election.
As of midnight after the Aug. 20 primary, Hageman led Helling by over 50,000 votes, with only Sheridan County yet to report results.
Results are considered unofficial until certified by county and state canvassing boards. The vote totals are as follows.
Republican primary
- Harriet Hageman: 82,765 votes
- Steven R. Helling: 19,738 votes
Democratic primary
- Kyle G. Cameron: 10,047 votes
Hageman was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022, unseating former Rep. Liz Cheney. In her first term, Hageman has served on several subcommittees within the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Natural Resources.
