CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

Shoplifting and drug possession, Dell Range Boulevard, Aug. 24, LCSO

On Aug. 24 at 2:58 p.m., a Laramie County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a trespassing call at Walmart on Dell Range Boulevard. The deputy reportedly found Danni Martinez, 30, in the parking lot, sitting in a vehicle. The deputy said she told him she drove there despite having a suspended license and being previously trespassed from the store for shoplifting.

Walmart staff caught her leaving the store with about $488.69 worth of unpaid merchandise, a booking sheet states. When the deputy tried to arrest her, she resisted, claiming she wasn’t the driver even though she was in the driver’s seat with the keys. With another deputy’s help, she was handcuffed and put into a patrol car.

At the Laramie County Detention Center, a more thorough search of her purse revealed a jar containing a crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine and a glass pipe with suspected burnt marijuana residue. Martinez denied knowledge of the items.

She was charged with one felony count of taking a controlled substance/liquor into jail and four misdemeanors, including theft of less than $1,000 shoplifting, interference with a peace officer without injury, criminal trespass and driving under suspension.

Forgery, Wyott Drive, Aug. 23, CPD

A 31-year-old Cheyenne man is charged with misdemeanor counts of filing false documents and forgery on the suspicion that he created fake documents to skip a mandatory treatment meeting.

On Aug. 14, a Cheyenne police detective was told by probation and parole that the man potentially provided a falsified medical document.

The man missed a mandatory treatment meeting on July 28, and later claimed he had a minor cut on his hand that required medical attention. He provided a doctor’s note dated July 29 from Express Urgent Care, signed by a physician.

The officer investigated the matter further and found no doctor by the signed name had ever worked at Express Urgent Care, and the man had never been treated there. Additionally, an online search revealed that while the physician had worked at Affinity Family Practice Center in Cheyenne, they hadn’t been employed there since 2021.

A drug test taken by the suspect on July 31 came back positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine, a booking sheet states.

The man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Destruction of Property, Central Avenue, Aug. 24, CPD

Police are charging 32-year-old Thunder Nolan Kellum of Cheyenne with felony destruction of property and theft by using or disposing less than $1,000 after they were called to the 1700 block of Central Avenue at 8:27 p.m.

Police responded to a reported behavior problem at a hotel restaurant, where Kellum had been for several hours, exhibiting odd behavior and eating without paying. He also tried to tip using a bronze plaque and was found to be in possession of 20 such plaques from the Capitol Avenue bronze project, a booking sheet states.

Police also noted Kellum had a pile of mail that didn’t belong to him.

He was arrested and became uncooperative and threatening while he was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, police reported.
