Wyoming man dies in single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Douglas

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Wyoming man died in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on WY 59 south of Douglas on Aug. 31, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at around 9 p.m. near mile marker 1.5, roughly 1 mile outside of Douglas.

Ray Daugherty, 40, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle south when he lost control of the vehicle. Investigators believe speed and possible driver fatigue contributed to the crash. The motorcycle left the road, hitting a ditch. The impact separated Daugherty from the motorcycle, leading to fatal injuries.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Daugherty was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The fatal crash summary states the weather was clear and road conditions were dry.
