Pokes in the Pros: Week 2

CASPER, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming has produced several NFL players currently making an impact. Here’s how they did in the most recent week’s slate of games.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

The Bills’ star quarterback had a quiet but efficient outing on Thursday against the Miami Dolphins, as he wasn’t asked to do too much while his team cruised to a 31–10 victory.

Allen completed 13 of his 19 passing attempts, good for just under a 70% completion rate. He threw for one touchdown and didn’t have any interceptions or sacks.

Under new offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Allen has shouldered less of the team’s offensive burden through the first two games of the 2024–25 season, with the team putting more of an emphasis on the ground attack and diversifying its playbook.

Frank Crum, Denver Broncos

The Broncos fell to 0–2 on the season this past Sunday, faltering 13–6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. For the second time in as many weeks, Crum — a rookie offensive lineman — did not take the field.

Though Crum hasn’t appeared in a game yet, his chances of playing in the coming weeks are good. Starter Mike McGlinchey was recently sidelined with an injury, and Crum is one of three backup OLs who could step up to fill the spot in the lineup.

Denver’s next game is this coming Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Marcus Epps, Las Vegas Raiders

Epps had a solid outing on Sunday, recording four tackles as his team earned a hard-fought 26–23 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Epps finished the game with four total tackles and a stuff, taking the field in the secondary for each of the team’s defensive downs. Epps now has nine tackles across the first two games of the season.

Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints

Granderson had a strong outing on Sunday, helping his Saints handle the Dallas Cowboys 44–19 on the road.

Granderson had five tackles to go with 1.5 sacks, routinely making things difficult for Cowboys QB Dak Prescott.

Last season, Granderson was one of the most improved players in the league. Now, he’s out to prove that the season wasn’t a fluke. According to analytics by ESPN, Granderson ranks 14th in the NFL at pass-rush win rate with a success rate of 24% on 46 plays.

Chad Muma, Jacksonville Jaguars

Chad Muma had a quiet outing Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, with his team ultimately losing 18–13.

Muma recorded just one tackle in the contest. He was primarily used on special teams, taking the field for 70% of the Jags’ special teams downs but less than a fifth of the defensive downs.

Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals

Wilson had another stellar outing in Week 2, though it once again came in a losing effort as the Bengals fell 26–25 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wilson, a Casper native and former Natrona County High School Mustang, wracked up 12 tackles and a stuff. It’s the second time in as many games Wilson has logged double-digit tackles, bringing his season total to 24.

Though the season is still young, Wilson finds himself tied for the second-most tackles in the league, trailing only the Colts’ Nick Cross, who has 29.
