GILLETTE, Wyo. — Nearly three dozen untrained wild horses will be available for adoption or sale in mid-October north of Wheatland, according to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
According to an Oct. 7 release, 30 horses will be available on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Wheatland Off-Range Corral, a facility located at 1005 N. Wheatland Highway, approximately 10 miles north of Wheatland.
Those interested in adopting can preview horses from 8 a.m. until the competitive live auction begins at 9 a.m. Bids will start at $125 and any animal not placed during the auction will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until noon, the BLM says.
Adopters must be at least 18 years old and have facilities that meet federal requirements. Adoption applications can be pre-approved online, and more information concerning adoption requirements can be found on the BLM’s website.
