CASPER, Wyo. — Two Florida residents died at the scene of a head-on crash on US 14 outside Ranchester on Monday, Oct. 7, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol release on Wednesday.
“The on-scene evidence and driver-vehicle input information prior to the crash is still being analyzed by the Wyoming Highway Patrol crash team,” the release said.
Highway Patrol said 58-year-old Dayton resident Steven Paulson was taken by ambulance to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Paulson was driving a 2021 Jeep eastbound in a 65-mile-per-hour zone and negotiating a right-hand curve when a westbound 2024 Chevy Silverado collided head-on in the eastbound lane.
“The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as John Ori, a 79 year-old-male from Gulf Breeze, FL. The Chevrolet also had a passenger identified as Jay Foose, a 73-year-old male from Inglis, FL,” the release said. “Both the driver and passenger succumbed to their injuries at the scene.”
Driver and speed and inattention are being investigated as possible causes.
