CASPER, Wyo. — Gov. Mark Gordon has ordered the Wyoming State Flag to be flown at half-staff at the Capitol in Cheyenne and in Natrona County from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in honor and memory of Mary Hales.
“Ms. Hales represented Natrona County’s District 36 in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2007–2010. She passed away November 21, 2024,” the release from the governor’s office said on Monday.
Hales was also noted for a successful 30-year career in real estate and leadership on the Girl Scout Council in Casper, according to her obituary. She served as secretary of the Wyoming Democratic Party and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention ushering in the era of Barack Obama.
She was also noted for her love of sports, including badminton.
