CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Today will see the conclusion of gentler winds in the Cheyenne area for the next few days. Starting Friday, intense winds will make their way through the region alongside snow.

Today’s high will be 63 degrees with 5–15 mph winds — the last time either of those conditions will be present until around Monday. Tonight’s temps will drop down to 30, though the winds might actually calm by a few miles per hour.

By tomorrow morning, however, those winds will pick right back up and carry with them a load of snow. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne reported recently that only higher-elevation areas should expect moderate accumulation; Cheyenne itself might get less than an inch. That aforementioned wind will start the day at 15–25 mph and will increase to 25–35 mph later in the day. Gusts could top that still, blowing as fast as 55 mph.

Friday night will be much the same and will feature a low of 21 degrees.

Saturday won’t be quite as cold or as windy as tomorrow, but it still will not be very agreeable even to Wyomingites. Saturday’s high will be 43 degrees with 25–30 mph winds.

Temps will slowly pick back up over the course of the following days until another incoming system Tuesday shakes everything back up. More details will be provided on that as the days approach.
