CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne received a $20,000 grant from Walmart Stores 1315 and 4653, located on Dell Range Boulevard and Livingston Avenue, to support meal deliveries and wellness checks for Laramie County residents. Walmart will present the community grant on Friday, Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne, 2015 S. Greeley Highway.
The funds, awarded through the Walmart Foundation Giving program, will help Meals on Wheels continue its mission of supporting seniors and others in need. The organization delivers more than 12,500 meals each month, ensuring vulnerable residents receive essential nutrition.
Stephane Freeman, director of Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne, said the funding will have a meaningful impact.
“We are incredibly grateful to Walmart Stores 1315 and 4653 for their generous $20,000 grant. This support will significantly enhance our ability to meet the nutritional needs of Laramie County residents,” Freeman said. “With this funding, we can continue to provide nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to those who need it most.”
Walmart’s team members’ contributions extend beyond financial support. Store employees regularly volunteer in the Meals on Wheels kitchen, assisting with meal preparation.
“We had an amazing time volunteering at Meals on Wheels this past year. It is great to be able to give back to an organization that provides so much to our community,” said Matthew Webber, Walmart store manager.
The nonprofit has served Cheyenne since 1970, growing from 20 meals a day to over 400. In addition to meal deliveries, the organization offers the AniMEALS program, which provides pet food and supplies to clients’ companion animals.
Walmart’s donation will help Meals on Wheels continue serving the community and expanding its impact. Those interested in volunteering or donating can visit Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne’s website for more information.
