CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Laramie County Community College is inviting high school juniors and seniors for Pathways Day, providing a hands-on chance to explore what higher education can offer.

The free day of in-person exploration of careers and programs is set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 7, with registration ending Feb. 1. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to register early. Students can register at the pathways website.

Registrants choose one of eight exciting pathways that will guide their experience through the day. The event includes a free lunch, awards and prizes, including an LCCC scholarship.

Representatives from all eight of LCCC’s Pathways will provide engaging and entertaining programming for attendees, making it a fun way to learn about the college, according to Kaycie Kilmurray, LCCC Student Success Coach. Students will have a chance to tour facilities, meet faculty, try out equipment and more.

“This is a great chance for high school students to come to campus and interactively explore some of the opportunities we have available to them,” Kilmurray said. “The Pathways track a student chooses to participate in will be fully customized to that specific Pathway and the programs that fall under it.”

A pathway is a set of related programs grouped to allow for exploration in multiple areas with low risk of wasting credits or semesters. LCCC’s eight pathways are:

  • Agriculture & Equine
  • Business & Accounting
  • Communication & Creative Arts
  • Health Sciences & Wellness
  • Human & Public Services
  • Information Technology
  • Science, Technology, Engineering & Math
  • Trades & Technical Studies

Students unsure about which pathway to pick can take the career coach assessment available on the Pathways Day webpage.

Faculty, pathway coordinators and student success coaches will be available to meet students and help acquaint them with what LCCC’s pathways have to offer.

“This is one of our favorite events of the year. We love having everyone on campus and seeing the excitement from students as they discover and learn more about LCCC and the programs we are proud to offer,” Kilmurray said.

More information about LCCC’s pathways is available at its website.
