CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Laramie County Community College is preparing to honor six outstanding inductees as it announces the fourth class of the LCCC Athletics Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 9.

LCCC Athletic Director Mark Puev expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, emphasizing its significance in the college’s athletic history.

“These individuals and everyone associated with them have meant so much to the history of the Athletic Department,” Puev stated. “The event has grown over the last couple of years, and we look forward to this continued growth as we recognize these former student-athletes and teams now and in the future.”

The class of 2024 boasts remarkable achievements, notably the 2013 Women’s Soccer team’s outstanding performance at the NJCAA National Championship. The team secured third place despite a tough loss in the national semifinal, according to a press release by the school.

Taylor Hockley and Francesca Ali, standout players from the 2013 team, are among the inductees. Hockley, a Casper native, was an NJCAA First Team All-American in 2013. Ali, hailing from London, England, made significant contributions to the team’s success.

Adding to the accolades is Sarah Erickson, recognized for her stellar defense during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Erickson’s leadership as team captain propelled the Golden Eagles to impressive finishes in the National Tournament.

In a historic moment, Romeo Kabanda becomes the first men’s soccer player to enter the LCCC Athletics Hall of Fame. Kabanda’s remarkable performance in 2008 earned him the title of the first NJCAA All-American in school history. Loncey Johnson from the LCCC rodeo team joins Kabanda in this year’s induction class, celebrated for his achievements as a rough stock rider.

Justin Gorman, a representative of the LCCC Foundation and a member of the selection committee, commended the honorees.

“This group of athletes is a great representation of the rich history of Golden Eagle Athletics,” Gorman stated.

The induction ceremony, set to take place during alumni weekend, promises to be a memorable event. As part of the festivities, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams will host their alumni games on Saturday.
