CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Laramie County School District 1’s Transportation Department will hold a job fair on Tuesday, June 18. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the LCSD1 Transportation Department facility located at 316 S. Lexington Ave.

During the job fair, the department will conduct interviews on site. Interested individuals also have the option to apply online at www.laramie1.org. The starting wage for bus drivers is $18.18 per hour.

The LCSD1 Transportation Department is looking to fill about 15 positions. These include substitute bus drivers, transportation assistants and activity drivers, according to Adam Greenwood, program administrator for the department. Greenwood clarifies that many misunderstand the substitute bus driver positions as on-call. However, these roles involve driving a bus every day from Monday to Friday, but they are not benefited until the driver is placed on a regular route.

The job comes with numerous benefits. Bus drivers can enjoy flexible daily schedules, health and vision insurance and retirement plans. Additionally, LCSD1 offers paid training for the Commercial Driver’s License.

Applicants for activity bus driver positions need previous experience, as either a trucker or a bus driver. This requirement ensures the safe and efficient transportation of students during school activities and events.

The district is also seeking transportation assistants. These individuals ride on special needs buses to help students who require extra assistance. They also support drivers with students who have behavioral issues.

The job of a bus driver in LCSD1 is not only rewarding but also flexible. Drivers can balance their work schedules with personal commitments. This flexibility makes it an attractive job for those seeking part-time work.

One of the significant benefits is the paid CDL training provided by the district. This training ensures that new drivers are well-prepared and certified to operate school buses safely.

LCSD1 continues to invest in its staff by offering comprehensive health and vision insurance plans. These benefits, coupled with retirement options, provide long-term security and peace of mind for employees.

If you are considering a career change or looking for a job with excellent benefits, consider attending the LCSD1 Transportation Department job fair. Apply online or attend in person on June 18 to explore this opportunity. For more information, contact the LCSD1 Transportation Department at 307-771-2628.
