CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees is accepting applications to fill a recent vacancy. Susan Edgerton, a trustee, resigned on Oct. 8 after notifying the board chair and superintendent of schools. Trustees have until Nov. 7 to appoint her replacement.

“It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that I write this to you today,” Edgerton wrote in a letter to chair Tim Bolin. “I am resigning as the LCSD1 South Triad representative Trustee as of 10/08/2024. Circumstances have changed and my husband and I are moving sooner than originally planned. It has been a pleasure and an honor working on the school board. I want to thank you and the rest of the board members, as well as Dr. Newton and those on cabinet for everything that has been accomplished in my short time as a board member. I wish you all much success moving forward.”

The vacancy is specific to the South Triad, so only residents of Residence Area 1 can apply. Interested candidates must submit a letter of interest, a biography and proof of residency. Applications can be emailed to Darlene Davis at Darlene.davis@laramie1.org or delivered in person to the superintendent’s office at 2810 House Ave., Room 130. The deadline is noon Oct. 21.

This position is a volunteer role and does not include pay. Interviews for eligible candidates will be scheduled later. The Board of Trustees will vote to select Edgerton’s successor in a public meeting on Nov. 4.

The appointed trustee will serve until November 2026, completing the remainder of Edgerton’s term.
